To migrate the existing data from Tally 7.2 to Tally.ERP 9
Double-click Tally72migration.exe.
OpenTally Data Migration and Tally.ERP 9 simultaneously in separate screens.
A message Ready for Migration appears in the Migration Messages pane.
Select Migrate Data.
Specify the data path, if required.
Select the company from the List of Companies.
If the company selected contains payroll data, the following message is displayed:
Press Enter to continue with data migration.
A messageContinue Migration? Yesor Nois displayed.
Press Yes to start data migration.
The Migration Information screen displays Types of Masters, and Types of Vouchers that need to be migrated from Tally 7.2.
Click Yes on the message prompt Migrate? Yes or Noto proceed with migration.
During data migration, the calculator pane displays the number of masters and vouchers migrated to Tally.ERP 9.The screen appears as shown below:
Note: As the unused voucher types are removed, there might be a mismatch in voucher type master statistics.
Employee masters are split into employees and employee groups.
On completing migration, a message Migration Completed Check Statisticsis displayed.
On pressing any key, a congratulatory message appears as shown:
Errors that occur during migration are displayed in red in the Migration Message pane.
Note: If an error occurs during migration, rewrite the data by pressing Ctrl + Alt + R from the migration tool, and then start migration of data to Tally.ERP 9.
The migrated company data is stored in the default Tally.ERP 9 folder, and prefixed with a zero. The company folder appears as shown below:

After the migration of data from Tally 7.2 to Tally.ERP 9, the following two log files are created in the folder containing the tally72migration.exe

Tally 7.2 To Tally 9 Migration Tool Free Download
Data created in Tally 7.2 or TCP (Tally Compliant Product) files created for use with Tally 7.2 cannot be used with Tally ERP 9. Hence, Data and TCP files need to be upgraded for use with Tally ERP 9. The Tally Data Migration Tool helps users to upgrade Data and TCP files in order to be compliant with Tally ERP 9. A valid Tally ERP 9 license is required to upgrade Data or TCP files from Tally 7.2 to Tally ERP 9.
Tally 6.3 users can use the migration tool to rewrite data to Tally 7.2 and then migrate to Tally ERP 9. A logical migration of data from the earlier version of Tally 9 will occur when you load the company for the first time in Tally ERP 9.

To Start the Migration Tool
By default the Tally Data Migration Tool is available in the Tally ERP 9 folder.
To start the migration tool double click on the tally72migration.exe
The Tally Data Migration Tool and Tally ERP 9 screens open simultaneously.
The Migrate Company menu has the following options:
1.Migrate Data allows the user to upgrade Tally 7.2 data to Tally ERP 9
2.Migrate TCP allows the user to upgrade TCP files created in Tally 7.2 to Tally ERP 9
3.Restore 7.2 Backup – allows the user to restore data backup taken in Tally 7.2
Migration Messages Pane
The migration status is displayed in the Migration Messages pane
Calculator Pane
The Calculator pane in the Tally ERP 9 screen displays any error messages that appear during the migration process.
